Event: Movimento
17 October
MUŻA, Valletta
Have you ever wondered what contemporary dance is all about? Ever come out of the theatre scratching your head in puzzlement? Now you have the chance to gain skills and become an active spectator by attending Movimento, a series of five appointments with five different artists introducing you to the art of dance and choreography.
In the second season of Movimento, ŻfinMalta is collaborating with Heritage Malta to introduce dance to a wider audience. This project allows participants to recognise tools of choreography in dance and in life. Watch dance come to life at MUŻA with experts who work with movement, and be part of it!
Anybody (recommended age 12 years onwards) who is curious about dance and how it is made can attend. Sessions are casual, informal, informative, immersive, interactive, and most importantly, engaging.
Each session will be led by an expert assisted by the national company dancers, and will explore notions around the works that are currently being programmed by ŻfinMalta.
The first session will be led by Dr Victor Jacono, who will be discussing “The Art of Unison”.
Dr Victor Jacono teaches acting and performance production at the MCAST Institute for the Creative Arts, where he continues to build upon his international experience as a theatre artist, researcher, and educator. In line with his doctoral studies at Roma “La Sapienza”, Dr. Jacono combines his work in culture and the arts with an interest in the workings of complex systems, especially the brain, to develop creative instruments that can be adopted by artists and non-artists alike.
Further sessions will take place in January, February, April and June 2020.
Workshop attendees may also avail a 15% discount when dining at MUŻA Restaurant after the workshop.
Time: 1830 hours
Price: €10, €8 for seniors, students and Heritage Malta members
Tickets available from all Heritage Malta museums and sites, and ONLINE.
